Lost in transit, damaged at a fitting, an accessory that doesn't arrive. Attire cover is there so a replacement can be sourced or hired in time, without paying for it twice.
The short answer
Is the wedding dress covered if it's lost or damaged?
Yes. Wedding Insurance AU includes cover for a replacement of equal value if the dress, suit, or accessories are lost or stolen before the wedding. Damage during the wedding is covered up to fifty per cent of the original price where repair isn't economical. Alterations and rental charges are included. Cover runs from $2,000 on Essentials to $20,000 on Premier.

Lost or stolen before the day
A replacement of equal value for the dress, suit, or accessories.
Damaged before the day
Repair costs up to the original cost, or rental charges where a replacement can't be made in time.
Damaged during the day
Repair, or where that isn't possible or economical, the market value up to fifty per cent of the original purchase price.
Alterations and rental charges
Alteration and fitting fees are included within the attire definition.

And what isn't?
Not covered:
- Theft not reported to the police as soon as reasonably practicable, and within three days of discovering the loss.
- Theft from an unattended vehicle, unless it was locked and secured and there are visible signs of forced entry.
- Damage from alterations, wear and tear, moth, or vermin.
- Damage from atmospheric or climatic conditions, other than during the wedding itself.
- For attire not bought new, damage from any cleaning, restoration, or repair.
