How to make a claim on your wedding insurance.
We know that a clear, professional and supportive claims process matters — it's the moment the cover has to earn its keep. If something covered goes wrong, claims are handled by an Australian-based wedding claims team, with no excess on any claim. Here's all you need to know about making one.
Three steps, and we help with each one
Get in touch as soon as you reasonably can, send us proof of your costs, and give the claims team the time to assess it properly. That's the shape of it. The team reviews each claim against the PDS, asks for anything further it needs, and works through it with you directly. Every claim is assessed individually against the policy — and there's no excess to pay, on any section.
Making a claim, step by step
Contact us to make a claim
Get in touch as soon as practical, and certainly within thirty days of an event that is likely to give rise to a claim. The sooner we know, the sooner we can help. If a supplier is involved, it's worth asking them about any available refund at the same time.
Provide proof of costs
It might go without saying, but the more proof you have, the easier it is for a claim to be assessed — and for us to help you. Useful documents to keep organised and within reach include:
- Receipts and invoices
- Credit-card and/or bank statements
- Copies of contracts and agreements with suppliers
- Emails and correspondence with suppliers
- Anything else that could support your claim
We may come back to you for further information in support of your claim — for example medical or police reports, or original receipts and proof of purchase. This can also include English translations of any supporting documents. Please note that providing the necessary documents is done at your own expense.
Complete and send the claim form
Download the wedding insurance claim form, complete the general details and the section relevant to your loss, and send it with your supporting documents to the claims team. Our assessors are experienced and will assess and process your claim as quickly as they can. Allow up to ten business days once we have everything from you, and feel free to get in touch at any stage if you'd like an update. Every claim is assessed individually against the PDS.
Great news — there's no excess on a claim
There's nothing to pay before a claim can be considered — on any tier, on any section of the policy.
Making a claim is really quite simple
Our experienced claims team helps you at each step of the way. This isn't our first wedding season — and we're building a wedding insurance service around the best possible claims experience. Hopefully we never need to speak, but if we do, we're here to help, and every claim is assessed individually against the policy.
Claims — questions & answers
Who handles the claims?
Claims under Wedding Insurance AU are handled by an Australian-based wedding insurance claims team, with years of local and global experience. There's no offshore call centre. The team reviews each claim against the PDS, requests the documentation needed, and works through it directly. No excess applies to any claim.
How soon do I need to report a claim?
As soon as reasonably practicable, and no later than thirty days after an event likely to give rise to a claim. Reporting late doesn't automatically invalidate a claim, but it can reduce what's payable if it causes prejudice, so early contact is best.
What evidence will I need?
It depends on the claim, but commonly: receipts and invoices, supplier contracts, bank or credit card statements, a medical certificate for illness or injury, and official notices for transport issues. Keep your original purchase invoices, as they validate the expenses you want to recover.
Is there an excess to pay?
No. Wedding Insurance AU carries $0 excess on every claim, every level, every cover section. There's nothing to pay before a claim is considered, and nothing deducted from a settlement.
